Today is a celebration day. The school year ends, and the new high school graduates get their white caps. And we, the teachers go aroung the town (a big country town) and visit their homes.

Also, I got an email from Lani telling that the Knitters' Tea Swap package had arrived safely across the ocean. The following is a part of my letter to Lani (sorry, the links are in the form they were in the letter, I just can't be bothered to change them):

...The three lovely skeins of blue yarn are from Vuorelma (www.vuorelma.net) . Pure wool, a yarn which is often mentioned in many American pattern books. The name of the yarn, Satakieli, is in English Nightingale! The other two balls are from Novita (www.novita.fi) the biggest yarn company in the country. The thinner yarn is called Nalle = Teddy Bear, the thicker 7 Veljestä = Seven brothers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Brothers). The name refers to an old book, which every single Finn has to read at school and probably we all hate it. If somebody happens to read it again later, as an adult, he'll very probably like it ;)

The blue packet of tea has all the text in English, so no problems there. The red one is one of my all time favourites: Keisarin Morsian = The Emperor’s Bride. They are both made by Nordqvist (http://www.nordqvist.fi/en/), which is at least the biggest tea company in Finland.

The napkins are the whole country's favourite. Made by Marimekko (http://www.marimekko.fi/eng): all kinds of design produce: clothes, bags (wonderful!), cloths, everything. The pendant. We've always been dependent on wood and forestry, but lately it has evolved into new products and this company is new and only a kilometre away from me (www.veico.fi). <?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Chocolate in different forms. Fazer is the biggest, best and everything in candy – at least for me! I love their products (www.fazer.fi). The two bars are chocolate, the bag isn't. It's a selection of traditional candy. Some of them have been in production since the early 1900s. I have two absolute favourites which I always fish out of the bag before anyone else has a chance to get them: first the one with a picture of polar bear and secondly the one named Tosca.
